Like a few others, somewhere this film had the potential to be a nice village
comedy perhaps a la Kusturica but unfortunately it doesn’t turn out that way.
Socio-political satires are not common in Hindi cinema hence there is ample
scope to fill the void but this film neither delivers the goods nor it is
completely disappointing.
A little boy Zulfie loves his goat that is curiously named
Shah Rukh, his family wants to sell the goat but Zulfie refuses to part with
it. A local barber (Anshuman Jha) comes to his rescue by claiming that the goat
is spiritually special. The next thing you see is people from all over the
village line up to be blessed by the goat. Later, the issue takes a religious
turn as well as both Hindus and Muslims stake a claim.
There are some moments that are fun filled but they are very
few and far between. The camera movement has some few but what the film lacks
is taut screenplay to keep it going. For example those romantic songs have no
space if the intention is to make a satire. In process of trying to please
everyone, it ends up making very few happy.
